Many people are worried about upgrading, the thought of uninstalling and reinstalling the new version, will you lose your settings, will you lose any info you have already added?

To upgrade from V5 to V6
The answer is you don't need to un-install your old component or Plugin, you just instal over the top of the old versions. As we have moved some of the settings from the plugin to the component to make it more user-friendly, you will need to select a few settings in the component. But everything else will be the same, all the info you have added to the V5 component, will be the same and transferred over.

You should be fine using the new version as we have made things much simpler, rather than more complex, as I know things were very muddled in V5.

Upgrading the V6 version
You just download the latest installer and install it, it will install over the version you have already. You will not lose any settings, so you can upgrade safely knowing that any info you have added will be safely kept and transfered to the new version.

But as always you SHOULD ALWAYS back up your website whenever you do anything to the site, if the server should crash or lose internet connection or anything at all during the instalation of any extension, it can cause terminal damage to your website. Not once since 2005 has my extension caused any issues for any clients, but you should backup before upgrading any extension, not just mine.
