We built this extension from the ground up, actually many times, as we have rebuilt it over and over to get it correct. This means we can do anything you need, to make it work how you need.

Synchronising a custom made field and a JGB field.
One client has had their Virtuemart heavily customised customised to have a new MPN field within the product description before they started using Joomla Google Base. They had thousands of products each having the MPN details in this field and they didn't want to transfer the data by hand from one set of fields to another. So at a very realistic affordable cost, we produced a component, which bridged the old customised Virtuemart MPN field, and the Joomla Google Base MPN field. It then synchronised the 2 together, so the client did not need to do anything by hand.

The new component automatically synchronised the 2 sets of fields, so each time they updated the customised MPN field in their new field within Virtuemart, it would then pass that MPN number over to our Joomla Google Base component MPN field automatically.

The reason we chose to make a new component, is because we didn't want to modify (hack) either the Virtuemart component or the Joomla Google Base Component. This allows the components to be updated if possible and makes sure that any security issues are removed, as if there was an issue with Virtuemart, or Joomla Google base, the developers would then release an update and you could then remove the security problem. If the component has been hacked or changed, if you update the component, it could over write those modifications.

Add the fields into Virtuemart's product page
In version 4.X a client asked us to add the fields in to Virtuemart product page for ease of use. We did this, even though we advised against it, as now Virtuemart has been modified, it will no longer be possible to update it. But there is now a new tab in the VM product page, called Google Base, which has all the fields of the component within.

Export as a different format
One client needed the same data to be exported in a different way for an bespoke financial accounts system they had. It allowed their system to collect the product information and transfer it over over so they always had a full of stock from the site.

There has been many changes and differences within our system, some have been very handy and useful and we added it permanently to the stable version on the next release, whilst others have been crazy :)
